报告人介绍:

ben.jpgProf. Seng-Pan U (Ben) received the B.S and M.S degree in 1991 and 1997, respectively, and the dual PhD degrees from the University of Macau (UM) and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Portugal in 2002 and 2014 respectively. Prof. U has been with Faculty of Science & Technology, UM since 1994, and is currently Professor and Deputy Director of State-Key Laboratory of Analog & Mixed-Signal (AMS) VLSI. During 1999-2001, he was on leave to the Integrated CAS Group, Center of Microsystems in IST, as a Visiting Research Fellow.

In 2001, Prof. U co-founded the Chipidea Microelectronics (Macau), Ltd. as the Engineering Director, and since 2003 the corporate VP-IP Operations Asia Pacific for devoting in advanced AMS Semiconductor IP product development. The company was acquired in 2009 by the world leading EDA & IP provider Synopsys Inc. (NASDAQ: SNPS), currently as Synopsys Macau Ltd. He is also the corporate Senior Analog & Mixed-Signal Design Manager and Site General Manager.

Prof. U authored and co-authored 140+ publications, 4 books in Springer and China Science Press in the area of VHF SC filters, Analog Baseband for Multi-standard wireless transceivers and Very High-Speed TI ADCs. He co-holds 10 US patents. Prof. U received ~30 research & academic/teaching awards and is co-recipient of 2014 ESSCIRC Best Paper Award. He is also the advisor for ~30 various international student paper award recipients, e.g. SSCS Pre-doc Achievement Award, ISSCC Silk-Road Award, A-SSCC Student Design Contest, DAC/ISSCC Student Design Contest and etc. Prof. U as the Macau founding Chairman received The 2012 IEEE SSCS Outstanding Chapter Award. Both at the 1st time from Macau, he received the Science & Technology (S&T) Innovation Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2010, and also The State S&T Progress Award in 2011. He also received both the 2012 and 2014 Macau S&T Invention and Progress Awards. In recognition of his contribution in academic research & industrial development, he was awarded by Macau SAR government the Honorary Title of Value in 2010. He was also elected as the “Scientific Chinese of the Year 2012”.

Prof. U is currently IEEE Fellow, Founding Chairman of IEEE SSCS and Chairman of CAS/COMM Macau chapter. He is appointed a member of the S&T Commission of China Ministry of Education. He was IEEE SSCS Distinguished Lecturer (2014-2015) and A-SSCC 2013 Tutorial Speaker. He is currently TPC of ISSCC, A-SSCC, Analog sub-committee chair of VLSI-DAT and Editorial Board member of Journal AICSP.

Luong.jpgProf.Howard Luong received his B.S, M.S, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) from University of California at Berkeley in 1988, 1990, and 1994, respectively. Since September 1994, he has joined the EEE faculty at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology where he is currently a professor.

Professor Luong's research interests are in RF and analog integrated circuits and systems for wireless and portable applications.  He was a co-author of the three technical books entitled “Design Techniques for Transformer-Based VCOs and Frequency Dividers” by Springer in November 2015, "Low-Voltage RF CMOS Frequency Synthesizers" by Cambridge University Press in August 2004, and "Design of Low-Voltage CMOS Switched-Opamp Switched-Capacitor Systems" by Kluwer Academic Publishers in July 2003.

Professor Luong is an IEEE Fellow.  He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for IEEE Virtual Journal on RFIC and a technical program committee member of IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC)  and IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (CICC).

Professor Luong was an IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society Distinguished Lecturer from 2012 to 2014 and an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I (TCAS-I) and TCAS-II  from 2010 to 2012 and from 1999 to 2002, respectively.

hong.jpgProf.Zhiliang Hong was graduated from Chinese University of Science and Technology and got PhD degree in Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (ETHZ). He is full professor in Fudan University, since 1991. Prof. Hong was the leader of Chinese Delegation in co-operation design with Venus System in TU Berlin in 1987 and associate researcher in Berkeley in 1989 spring semester. He was a guest professor in University Hannover Germany in 1992-1994 and gust researcher in ETHZ in Autumn semester in 2000. He has published books “Computer Architecture and RISC Design” in Fudan Press and “Analog Integrated Circuit Analysis and Design” in Science Press in 2005/2009. He has published more than 300 technical papers in analog, mixed signal, RF integrated circuits and SOC. Prof. Hong services the editor for Journal of Research and Advance of Solid-State Electronics and program chair of ASICON 2005 and 2010. He is TPC member of ESSCIRC 2012-2014, Since 2015 he is ISSCC TPC member and gotten ISSCC 2009 evening award. He supervised 50 Ph. D and 120 Masters.  

Mak.jpgProf.Pui-In (Elvis) Mak received the B.S and PhD degrees from the University of Macau (UM), Macao, China, in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He is currently Associate Director (Research) at UM State-Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, and Associate Professor at UM Faculty of Science and Technology. His research focuses are on circuits and systems for wireless, biomedical and physical chemistry applications.

Prof. Mak currently leads a multidisciplinary team of 25+ engineers and scientists innovating state-of-the-art technologies, with 10 inventions reported at ISSCC’11-’16. He co-authored 3 books, 80+ journal papers, 120+ conference papers and 20+ US patents (issued/pending).

He is/was the Editorial Board Member of IEEE Press (’14-’16); IEEE CASS Distinguished Lecturer (’14-’15); Member of IEEE CASS Board-of-Governors (’09-’11); Senior Editor of IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems (’14-’15); Guest Editor of IEEE RFIC Virtual Journal (’14); Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I (’10-’11, ’14-’15) and II (’10-’13). He was the TPC Vice Chair of ASP-DAC’16, and is currently the TPC member of ISSCC, ESSCIRC and A-SSCC.

He (co)-received paper awards at ISSCC’16, A-SSCC’15 and DAC/ISSCC’05; the IEEE CASS Outstanding Young Author Award’10; twice IEEE SSCS Predoctoral Achievement Awards’14’15 (as advisor); IEEE CASS Chapter-of-the-Year Award’09, and Best Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II’12-’13. He co-received the National Scientific and Technological Progress Award’11 honored by the China Government.
